The Civil War Anniversary Proof is layered in 24Kt. GOLD and portrays a memorial field of cannons on a peaceful morning. The reverse highlights the flags of the Union and Confederate States. The Union Flag, a 38-star banner, maintained a star for every State in the United States, while the Confederate Flag had 13 stars for each State of the Confederacy.
In addition to the 150th Anniversary Civil War Proof, a special release of two General Proofs, plated in genuine Silver, makes for a complete tribute to the American Civil War.
One Proof features General Ulysses S. Grant, who was undoubtedly the most famous commander during the Civil War.
The second General Proof is highlighted by a portrait of Robert E. Lee, who was once offered a position as commander with the Union Army, but sided with his State of Virginia. Lee became the predominate leader of the Confederate forces.
